7 months old

Dylan had a great 1st Thanksgiving! She ate some sweet potato while everyone else enjoyed all the usual fare. She really enjoyed being able to spend time with Grandma Wendy, Grandpa Tim, and Great Grandma Doris. It was a fun, relaxing day.

Dylan's personality is really starting to emerge. She just started to get mad if you take something from her or won't give her what she wants. Dylan has also started to really move around the house although she still can't quite crawl. She has mastered the backwards scoot though!

Dylan also started swimming classes this week and so far she really love being in the water and splashing with mommy and daddy. We will post some swimming pictures soon.

Dylan's first presidential election

Dylan is so happy that Obama will be the first president of her lifetime (let's all just forget that few months with Bush...) In other news...

Dylan is becoming more and more fun everyday. She is still having problems sleeping for long periods of time, but we are slowly weening her from needing us to help her get back to sleep. She has now eaten sweet potatoes (her favorite!), carrots, peas, avocado (not a fan), and banana. We have started to feed her 2 times a day and she seems to enjoy it. Dylan can sit up all by herself now, although she sometimes will still tip over. :) Dylan went for a visit with Aunt Stacey this weekend in Portland and also got to see Erin, Jane, and her grandparents! She also went to see the exhibit on photographs of the Gorge at the museum where Dylan enjoyed squealing and hearing the acoustics of the building.

Dylan Claire is 6 months old!

Well there are a few days still. She has started eating solid food such as rice cereal and carrots. She has also learned to wave and hold her bottle up by herself. Dylan is really in to pulling hair, reading, and playing in her excersaucer right now. She still hasn't figured out how to sleep through the night yet which is making Mom and Dad a little delirious. As we speak I am too tired to write anymore so enjoy the pictures.

Dylan's first presidential debate

Dylan, Kelley and I just wanted to point out that Obama was the only one to even mention early childhood education. Yeah I know using my 5 month old's blog to champion my profession is questionable but we feel it is important.
Dylan is a little under the weather presently but is still in good spirits. Kelley is back to work full time next week which should prove to be our biggest challenge yet as far as sleep goes. I am now on alert at night as well as Kelley and I are taking turns putting Dylan back to sleep. I apologize in advance to those I work with as I do not function well on little sleep and I have an aversion to that nasty and expensive habit, coffee.
It is crazy to think that Dylan will be eating food in less than a month but we were saying the same thing about her rolling over which seems so routine now. Enjoy the SNL Palin skits.

Update

Well we have had a busy last month! We went to Yachats for a week with friends. Dylan took her first trip to the aquarium and also tasted sand! Dylan loved playing with Mia, Jon and Jenny's 4 year old daughter. We also took a trip to Arcata to meet Dylan's other grandpa and Justin. It was a very short trip and we hope to make a longer trip in the next year.

Dylan now enjoys playing with toys, which mostly means that she will hold them and look at them and shake them. She is a lot more aware of her surroundings as well. She is growing rapidly and weighed 15 lbs at her 4 month check up! She was in the 77% for weight but only in the 33% for height! She likes to eat her toes at any given chance, mostly when you are trying to change her diaper. Dylan is still a wonderfully easy baby although she likes to eat all night long which mommy does not appreciate! We are planning to start her on solids at 6 months, which is next month!

We went last week and got professional pictures taken. Dylan didn't want to cooperate but we did get a few smiles out of her! Dylan has started to talk a lot, cooing and smiling! She also discovered her hands and likes to clasp them together and put them in her mouth. She even sucked her thumb for the first time last night. Dylan has had a clogged tear duct for about 2 weeks now, so we are washing it with warm water and massaging it, which she doesn't like! Hopefully it will go away soon!

Home again

Well we are home from a busy week in Colorado. We went on a very steep hike with Dylan strapped into her baby biorn, played disc golf in Vale, attended a Rockies game, swam in a pool, and relaxed in general. None of us ever want to drive again! Dylan's binkie was my best friend on the trip, along with a hand held breast pump. Our baby was a trooper and barely fussed at all! In other news, Dylan rolled over for her first time. It was very exciting and we have been giving her more tummy time to practice her mad skills.

We made it!

We got into Edwards, CO last night at 11:00 and Dylan was awesome. She slept a lot of the way and when she was awake she was fine for the most part. The Dalles through most of Utah was awful as there is very little to see but once we got close to Colorado I felt a little more at home. We are very excited to get out and see the area over the week. I will try to write another update at some point this week.

Getting ready for a road trip.

We are a couple of days away from heading to Colorado with little Dylan. So far her longest trip is 3 hours to g and g's house so 17 hours might be pushing it. We are going to visit our friend Codi for the week and plan on doing some hiking and maybe some light camping. We will be sure to take plenty of pictures to put up on the blog. Wish us luck!

Dylan has been doing great since I went back to work 3 weeks ago (3Weeks!!!). The first week she was mad and looked at me with untrusting eyes when i returned home each night. Now she is a happy baby who still loves her boob but will take a bottle fine. Being back at work has been a little rough. I am only working 30 hours a week which is really nice although I miss her a lot while I am at work and am usually exhausted by the time I get home. I am trying to not work the 9-6 shift again because I would never see Dylan but my assistant teacher doesn't want to work that shift exclusively which makes things difficult. I might end up looking for a new job if I have to work that shift since Dylan is now my top priority. Hopefully it doesn't come to that since I love my job.

In other news... I forgot to add on my blog about Patrick's graduation all the new people Dylan was able to meet! Arlene, my boss when I worked at Munchies, was able to meet Dylan. Dylan can't wait to be old enough to eat Munchies' delicious nachos and milkshakes:)! Dylan also made a new baby friend-Jackson, who is Lacey's son.

Doctor visit

Dylan had her 2 month check up which included shots. Again the medieval doctors made my little girl cry but this time she turned super red and made some huge tears. I felt bad for the nurse who gets to make babies cry for a living, the only profession I can think of that is worse than that is a lawyer. Anywho, she now weighs in at 12 lbs 8oz and is a couple of inches taller. The funny thing is though that she is in the 70th percentile for weight but in the 40's for height and 39th for head size. I guess we have a short, small headed, chunky baby but she is an insanely cute short, small headed, chunky baby.

Dylan's first home visit

Dylan went on her first home visit yesterday and she did amazingly well. She pretty much just sat there while dad tried to deflect toddler poking fingers from her head. While on the visit and on the drive home afterwards I realized what a valuable asset Dylan is when it comes to home visiting. I was thinking about the years laid out before us and how great it will be to have Dylan to share with my families. Oh and Dylan now weighs in at 12+ pounds.

Uncle Patrick's Graduation

An extra note on last weekend....Dylan ripped some awesome farts during her Uncle's graduation including one during the speakers long winded oration. Also, it is very hard to pee holding a baby and even harder to zip up after. I would also like to note that green day's time of your life has played at every graduation since 1997. I would like to challenge the youth out there to come up with a new song to play during your graduation as it is getting old. Congrats though uncle Patrick on your graduation and more importantly being voted best dancer!

7 Weeks old

Hi everyone! As of last tuesday Dylan now weighs 10lbs 10 oz. She has been gaining about 1/2 lb per week. Dylan is now smiling and cooing all the time. She also is now a fan of her sling- now we just need to work on the Baby Biorn. We have been staying busy, with recent visits to Hood River and Glide. Dylan got to meet her great-grandparents and great-aunts and uncles in Hood River and watched Uncle Patrick's high school graduation in Glide. I have to return to work next week for 30 hours a week and I am not ready to leave my little girl. We feel very lucky to have my mom come and stay with us for the summer so that we have someone we trust watching and caring for Dylan.

One month old!

Well Dylan has been very busy recently. Last week we went to the baby clinic at the birthing center where we mingled with other new moms and babies. Dylan weighed 9 lbs as of last Tuesday! Then we went on our first trip as a family to Glide to visit my mom. Dylan wasn't too happy on the way down but slept all the way back. This weekend we are going to go to Hood River to visit Clint's parents and family. It is 3 hours, so wish us luck! Today Dylan had her first bottle fed to her by daddy! I was VERY excited that she took the bottle easily. Pumping went well and I am hoping to regain a little freedom:)

Dylan's first bath and more

Dylan's little belly thing fell off so she had her first bath yesterday. She didn't mind it much but got a little mad when we poured water on her head. We took her to the doctor for her 2 week visit and everything looks good. She is up to 8lbs 8oz now which puts her in the 50th percentile. She is in the 75th percentile for length so she is pretty much going to be awesome at basketball.
We also took her to the Nursery to show off to everyone and she stayed asleep even when being passed around. I am headed back to work tomorrow full time which is going to be tough, don't read too much into that snoopervisors I am looking forward to seeing the kids again.

Pee and Poop

Well, Clint and I have now both been peed and pooped on. I was burping Dylan when her diaper leaked pee and poop all over my chest, which was lovely. She has peed twice on Clint while he was changing her diaper. Probably because he isn't as super fast at diaper changes as I am. Overall, Dylan has still been doing great. She has been sleeping for a few 3 hours stretches at night, which me and my boobs appreciate. Her first doctor's appointment is next Tuesday and we are exicted to take her to meet our co workers.

Nurse visit

Dylan went to the nurse today to get weighed and she is climbing back to her birth weight. She still has a little jaundice but it is almost gone. We are planning on taking her outside a little today as it is so nice! Next step is the two week visit and then we can take her out on exhibit. Kelley's mom is gone for the weekend so it has just been the happy family for a day. I have to say it has been nice not having Colleen's prime time tv on each night, Nancy Grace, but it will be nice when she comes back next week.

First day away

I went back to work today and I did not enjoy it. Luckily I dont' have to go back to work untill Friday. Dylan has been more alert which is fun because she looks around and takes everything in. We are looking forward to a busy weekend of people visiting so I'm sure there will be tons of pictures to share soon. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Day 3

The nurse came by yesterday and everything looks good. Dylan didn' t even fuss when she was stabbed in the foot and bled like some sort of medieval patient. Colleen has been a lot of help cleaning and rocking the baby and I'm even getting used to her watching the view and young and the restless. Side note: That old guy on the young and the restless has been on that show since the start and that was like 30 yrs ago, seriously branch out sir. Anywho, I'll take some more pics today.

Dylan's blog

So here is Dylan's blog! We will try to add pictures somewhat often. We will also write some updates on how Dylan is doing and whatever is going on with us. Mostly I just want somewhere for parents to go that isn't myspace, no ofense mom.
