Summer 2010

We were called out by a certain someone whose name rhymes with lenny baluson so figured it was time to post. We have been busy this Summer with camping, biking, swimming, and enjoying this odd Summer. The constant has been Dylan's desire to be in some body of water which, no matter the size is referred to as, "pool." Camping over Kelley's birthday weekend was a lot of fun and Dylan was not deterred by the freezing cold water.
Dylan is talking more and more and is starting to put phrases together like, "I wanna drive car," or "chicks trying to get out mama." Potty training has kind of stalled recently but we are hoping her interest will be piqued shortly. We are happy to announce Dylan will be attending Vivian Olum Child Development Center in September. For those not in the know this is also Kelley's place of employment so she will be able to bring her to school each morning and Gma will pick her up at 12:30. We looked at a bilingual school, Spanish of course, but were not too thrilled after our tour. Pa, aka grandpa, was a little upset about that but we will just have to find other ways to expose her to Castellano. There is a little bit of Summer left so we will get some more pictures up here shortly, as in less than five months from now.

Has it really been 2 months???

WOW! It has been so long it is hard to remember what she was doing last time... now she is starting to string together short sentences (2 words) like "dada poop" (anytime anyone uses the bathroom!) and strings signs with words to create sentences (sign for "where" while saying "cat".) She is also starting to sit on the potty after a play date with Jackson where peer pressure set in. Dylan's obsession with shoes is growing and now she likes to insist you take off your shoes so that she can try them on.
In other news... Clint started a new job at DHS today! It is very exciting for our family and hopefully it will be a good change. Also, Dave and Clint worked on the sun room a week ago and it is almost complete! Hopefully we will have a cute little playroom for Dylan soon!

Merry X-Mas and Go Ducks!

Dylan had a great Christmas this year. She went to Yachats with Grandma Wendy, Grandpa, Nana, Patrick, Grandma Colleen, Mommy and Daddy. Dylan LOVED opening presents this year and we often were not fast enough to get her new toys out of their package! The weather was so nice that we even went to the beach without our coats! We were also able to make a trip to Newport to visit the aquarium. Dylan liked looking at all the fish and wildlife but especially enjoyed the touching areas!

Dylan had a lot of fun putting random things down her dress and pjs on our trip as well. She decided that she was the piggy bank instead of her new duckie bank and started to put coins in her daiper and down her clothes! She also filled her dress with nerf darts! What a silly girl:)

Dylan has started to say more words as well, such as "cook", "apple", and "dog." It is so fun to watch her grow!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Ours was nice, filled with lots of hours in the car! It took us 5 1/2 hours to get to Hood River (normally a 3 hour drive). Dylan was entertained by mama singing "All the raindrops" over and over and over... We were able to have a nice visit with Auntie Kristen, Dustin, Rowan, and Carter and then met up with all the Foleys for dinner. Dylan wasn't too interested in the food but enjoyed having Grandma and Grandpa chase her all over the restaurant! We also went over to the coast for a day and Dylan loved running on the beach. She also enjoyed feeding the chickens at Great Grandma and Great Grandpa's house.

In other Dylan news, she is officially obsessed with "The Wiggles." We have to listen to "Hot Potato" probably 20 times a day! She loves to dance to the music and make the motions to the different songs. She is also really into throwing anything she can get her hands on. She especially loves throwing things at the cats. The scary thing is that her aim is really good! Today she even tried to paint Gertie! She is definitely a handful but at the same time so much fun. Dylan also still loves animals, especially Ducks. She was very excited that the ducks are going to the Rose Bowl!

19 months

Dylan is getting so big! She loves to read books, sing songs, torture the cats, and play outside. She has also started to throw big tantrums when she doesn't get her way. A parent at my work said to me, "when kids throw tantrums it means you are doing something right, because you are saying no to things." Apparently we are doing something very right with Dylan! Even though she throws big tantrums, she is so much fun! We have been going to the park a lot recently. Dylan loves to go on the slide and swings and say "hi" and "bye" to the people we see on the way to the park.
